What is PaperCast?

PaperCast transforms academic research papers from arXiv into podcast-style audio episodes. We use AI to convert papers into natural-sounding audio so you can listen to cutting-edge research anywhere.

Is PaperCast free?

Yes! PaperCast is completely free to use. You can listen to all episodes without any subscription or paywall.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required to listen. However, signing in (free) lets you create custom playlists and track your listening history.

How do you generate the audio?

We use advanced text-to-speech AI to convert research papers into natural-sounding audio. The system processes the paper text, formats it for audio comprehension, and generates high-quality speech.

How often are new papers added?

We automatically fetch and process new papers from arXiv daily. Papers are added as soon as they're published and processed into audio format.

What research areas do you cover?

We cover major arXiv categories including Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Biology, Electrical Engineering, Quantitative Finance, and Economics.

Can I download episodes for offline listening?

Not yet, but this feature is coming soon! For now, you need an internet connection to stream episodes.

How accurate is the audio compared to the paper?

The audio is generated directly from the paper text, so it's highly accurate. However, complex equations and figures are described verbally, which may differ from visual representations.

Can I request specific papers?

We process papers automatically based on arXiv categories. If you have suggestions for improving our selection criteria, feel free to reach out!

Is there a mobile app?

Yes! We have a mobile app in development. For now, the website works great on mobile browsers.

How can I share episodes with others?

Each episode has a unique URL you can share. Just copy the link from your browser's address bar when viewing an episode.

Who made PaperCast?

PaperCast was created to make academic research more accessible to everyone. It's an independent project built with modern web technologies.
